US DNI urged France to ban Hezbollah activities on its soil

Earlier this week, the German government announced a complete ban on Hezbollah activities.

Acting US Director of National Intelligence of the United States Richard Grenell has communicated to the French government the urgent need to proscribe Hezbollah a terrorist organization.

“Grenell, in his capacity as interim director of national intelligence, met with Emmanuel Bonne, the foreign policy adviser to the President of France, to urge him to ban Hezbollah in France and work to support a ban” across the European Union, FoxNews reported over the weekend.

US media outlets added that “the US official has visited Brussels several times to request an EU-wide ban”.

“His team met weekly to strategize and use the latest information known to push for a ban in Germany,” FoxNews added.

Earlier this week, the German government announced a complete ban on the activities of the Lebanese Shiite group on its soil.

Until now, only the activities of the military branch of Hezbollah, considered as a terrorist movement by the countries of the European Union, were banned, but not those of its political branch.

Meanwhile, Hebrew-language broadcaster Channel 12 reported on Saturday that Israel’s international spy agency Mossad provided Germany with sensitive information about Hezbollah’s activities inside the country before Berlin announced its ban against the terror group.
